Students who choose the gardening course work in our biodynamic walled garden and greenhouses, helping to cultivate a wide selection of vegetables, fruit and flowers for community use.

Working actively with the dynamics of season and weather, students play a vital part in contributing to healthy living through supplying kitchens: as a student recently exclaimed while eating raspberries and cream: "I picked those this morning."

In contrast to their outdoor work, students also learn to reflect while creating a portfolio of their work. They are supported in planning and overseeing their individual projects, taking on responsibility for growing vegetables of their choice. Visits to neighbouring farms and gardens form part of the course.

From improving soil quality, learning how to build up compost, propagating seedlings, planting out, harvesting and storing vegetables and fruit, students will gain a deep and lasting connection with - and usually a love for - the earth.
